As reported by Tuttosport, Miranda was not fit enough to be called up for Inter’s match against Chievo today, while there is caution for Matias Vecino, who at best will be ready for a place on the bench.

As well as that, though, Luciano Spalletti could also rest both Stefan De Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic ahead of the Boxing Day match against Napoli, and the centre-back’s potential absence means there is a chance to see Andrea Ranocchia make his first start of the season.

Ranocchia is the only player in the Inter squad who has not played a single minute of football yet in this campaign, having remained an unused substitute in all 16 of the Nerazzurri’s league matches up to now.

Of course, the Italian has three important international players in front of him in De Vrij, Miranda and Milan Skriniar, but maybe this is a chance he thought he deserved at some point.

It would certainly be good timing if he started today, because Ranocchia is waiting for a sign of some kind to understand if his future, after seven years and 188 appearances, can still be with the Nerazzurri. His contract is expiring in June and so far there have been no contacts with the club to talk about a renewal.
