After watching him dominate for their rivals Santos, Brazilian side Flamengo are very keen to sign Gabriel Barbosa (or Gabigol) in the upcoming January transfer window.

Indeed, the player has already had a positive meeting with Flamengo vice-president Marcos Braz. This took place in Rio de Janeiro at an event organised by Brazilian football legend Zico and was positively received by both parties.

According to Brazilian newspaper Lance, this could be a key step for the club in their pursuit of the forward.

The key for Flamengo is now to find an agreement with Inter. With Financial Fair Play restrictions still limiting the club’s activity on the transfer market, the Nerazzurri are keen to monetise the player whom Piero Ausilio has already admitted is no longer part of their plans.

Indeed, the club is holding out for a cash-only offer from a European club (most likely England, where West Ham have been linked) which they could then re-invest.
