UEFA Security Deputy General, Zvonomir Boban spoke about the racist events during the Serie A clash between Inter and Napoli in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

The former AC Milan midfielder argued that the match should have been suspended, and that there needs to be an intervention for these types of situations not to happen again.

He also made a point not to blame Inter fans collectively, just the 1% of them who he called idiots: “I’m very sorry that San Siro was the protagonist of these bad episodes. It’s a huge disappointment, how much success became a shame of football and humanity. The game probably would have been suspended. Of course, we do not have to accuse the whole of Nerazzurri fans, it’s just 1% of idiots, and for this 1% football can stop. To resolve violence we must take Thatcher’s example, we always come back there: we need state intervention.”
