Andrei Radu has taken the starting spot as Genoa’s first goalkeeper, but the arrival of Jandrei in the upcoming days could change the situation.

Milano based Gazzetta dello Sport interviewed Simone Braglia, former goalkeeper of Genoa from 1989- 1992: “The current goalkeepers are good, but there was a minimal risk, Marchetti came from a period of inactivity, while Radu had only 22 matches in Serie B at Avellino, but their roles are not open for discussion.”

“The role of the goalkeeper is very delicate even at the psychological level. Radu is proving his worth, but he has to become complete: when he comes out of the goal, he still lacks the necessary security. He is an excellent goalkeeper in perspective, but it is difficult to be the Ferrari’s apprentice. So far he has not made any glaring mistakes, apart from Parma and in a couple of inactive ball situations” Braglia continues.

“In today’s football it is quick to hate a number one, as well as to shoot them down. If Genoa will also support him at the critical level supporting him if he were wrong, that’s great. Otherwise it becomes difficult. The Genoa crowd is demanding, the goalkeeper must have big shoulders.”
