Cruzeiro sporting director Marcone Barbosa has addressed the interest in Gabriel Brazao from various European clubs.

“I prefer not to give precise names of teams, but I can confirm that there are both Italian and Spanish clubs in for Brazao. There are many clubs that have contacted us about this young player,” Barbosa told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“Clubs in Italy and in Spain are looking at him persistently but the present of Brazao is at Cruzeiro and with the Brazilian Under 20 national team, who will play in the South American Under 20 Championships in a few days.

“Brazao is a talent who grew up in the Cruzeiro youth academy, who has climbed all the levels of the Brazilian national team up to the senior national team where he was called up for the friendly matches against England and Cameroon last November.”

Barbosa concluded by discussing the comparisons being made between Brazao and legendary Brazilian ‘keeper Julio Cesar.

“Brazao has his own style. He is a goalkeeper who is still developing and has great potential. So far he has done really well and proved himself to be a reliable keeper.”
