Flamengo manager Abel Braga has expressed confidence that the Rubro-Negro club’s management can get a deal done with Inter over Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa.
“Flamengo already has a good team, but if a player who can give us weight and conviction arrives, it would obviously be fundamental for us,” Braga remarked in an interview with Esporte Espetacular.
“We are optimistic despite the difficulties. When Flamengo says they want someone, they triple their efforts.”
Recent reports have stated that talks between the two clubs are ongoing. Inter would prefer to move the 22-year-old striker on in a permanent move for €18 million but Flamengo are wanting to loan the out-of-favour Inter attacker instead. It is said that the Brazilian giants are willing to pay a large chunk of Gabigol’s €3 million annual salary, something that could prove decisive to a loan move being accepted by the Nerazzurri. Other reports have also stated Inter wish to get a first option on Flamengo talents Lincoln and Reinier as part of any deal.
