Despite seemingly being on the verge of reaching an with Inter, Diego Godin’s Atletico Madrid teammate Koke is convinced that the Uruguayan could still sign a new deal with the Spanish side.
“I imagine that Diego wants to stay. He and the club must talk to find and an agreement and I am sure that one will come. He, like Juanfran and Filipe Luis, is an important element in our side both on and off the pitch. I hope that they all stay with us because they are key elements of our successes,” the midfielder remarked in an interview with Marca.
He went on to speak about the alleged interest in a number of his teammates that newspapers have reported upon.
“We are used to the idea that every year other clubs come to ask for our players. It is up to the players if they want to stay or if they want to go away.”
