Napoli have made the most concrete assault at this stage for Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

Partenopei owner and president Aurelio De Laurentiis has called his opposite number at Cagliari Tomasso Giulini to offer a sum of €20 million plus Adam Ounas and Marko Rog.

Napoli are not the only club interested in the Italian international though. Inter are also keen on signing the 22-year-old but are unable to get a deal done during this window due to Financial Fair Play. Inter would be willing to offer a sum of cash and Alessandro Bastoni or even Eder from sister club Jiangsu Suning to get a deal done.

Manchester United have also recently expressed an interest in Barella and made a €30 million take it or leave it offer. Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is also an admirer. With the exit of Cesc Fabregas to Monaco, Sarri is wanting a replacement and has asked for either Leandro Paredes or Barella.
