Inter centre back Milan Skriniar is being faced with a difficult choice amid continued interest in his services from a host of Europe’s elite level clubs according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Slovak could sign a new contract and become the future of Inter’s defence but he could also jump ship to one of Real Madrid, Manchester United or Barcelona, all of whom have shown an interest and would allow him to compete at the top end of European competition sooner.

In recent months Inter offered the 23-year-old a one year extension that would keep him with the club through to the end of the 2022/23 season. Currently earning €1.7 million, Inter offered an improved salary of €2.5 million but his representatives are looking for a salary of €3 million.

The report from the Milan based newspaper then speaks on other ideas for the defence. Inter have recently courted Diego Godin and have, by many reports, already got a deal in place for him to join in the summer. The veteran Uruguayan will provide experience to the Inter back-line and will essentially play the Miranda role going forward.

The Brazilian is unhappy with playing time and could well leave San Siro during this transfer window. If he were to leave, it would make it quite difficult for Inter to get a replacement in January. Joachim Andersen is Inter’s preferred candidate but is a deal more likely to take place in the Summer. Cristian Romero is another name but Inter are behind Juventus in the race for his signature. Finally, Gazzetta dello Sport state it is unlikely that Alessandro Bastoni’s loan with Parma will be cut short.
