Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa will join Flamengo on loan until the end of the season according to a report from Brazilian news outlet Globoesporte.
The 22-year-old Inter outcast will join the Rubro-Negro on a dry loan meaning Inter will not receive any fee for the loan however the Brazilian’s will pay his salary in full. His medical, as per the report, is scheduled to take place next Wednesday.
It is understood that the player’s will to play for the Rio de Janeiro based outfit has been crucial in a deal being reached in negotiations between the two clubs.
The report goes on to state that the striker has agreed to a one year contract extension with Inter meaning his contract will run until the end of the 2020/21 season.
Gabigol spent the entirety of 2018 on loan with Santos and scored 18 goals in 35 league appearances which won him the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A top scorer award.
