Inter will not be able to bring Atlético Madrid’s Uruguayan international central defender Diego Godin to the club during this transfer window Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia reports.

According to the report, any thoughts the Nerazzurri may have had to try and bring Godin to Italy this month, have now been scrapped.

The reason for this, Sky Sport Italia suggests, is that Inter cannot spend anything on a transfer fee without first selling a player, in order not to violate the terms agreed with UEFA in the settlement agreement which they signed after being found to be in violation of the Financial Fair Play rules set forth by UEFA.

However, the parties are all in agreement and Godin’s lawyers are examining the contract before informing Atlético Madrid of the player’s intentions to leave the club when his deal runs out at the end of June.

So Inter will simply have to wait until the end of the season in order to bring Godin to the club.
