In a column for Gazzetta dello Sport, transfer market expert Carlo Laudisa has discussed the possibility of Real Madrid star Luka Modric joining Inter.
“The top players do not want to annoy Florentino Perez, the galacticos president who has parted seas and mountains in the summer to keep the recent Balon d’Or winner and the club,” he wrote before going on to discuss the complaint Real lodged against Inter.
“In Zurich the case was closed quickly and without substantial consequences for Inter. Inter are ambitious and keen to entertain more than friendly relations with the top clubs and Real Madrid in this respect is obviously at the top. In short, from a diplomatic point of view, this is a very delicate situation.
“Inter CEO Beppe Marotta’s experience is particularly helpful. After all, he is a good witness of the difficulties encountered in tearing Cristiano Ronaldo away from Perez.
“It is clear that Inter hopes of getting Luka Modric are linked to the quality of the approach strategy. In the case of the Croatian, in fact, Perez in recent months has raised a real smokescreen against the players’ representatives. In the summer, Modric expected the green light to a move as a sign of gratitude, but was not satisfied.
“Indeed, Perez was tested but was aiming at signing him to a rich renewal. With pride, however, Luka has resisted. Now comes the beauty, among the fires of the Madrid crisis. In silence, Inter must only wait and send friendly signals to Madrid “.
