There have been no significant steps taken forward in the contract negotiations between Inter and the club’s captain Mauro Icardi, Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia reports.
According to the report, the reason for the lack of progress, is that the parties have not had a chance to meet and sit down and talk things through.
This is because Icardi’s wife and agent, Wanda Nara Icardi, has not returned back to Italy from Argentina where she, her husband and their children spent the winter break.
Furthernore, Sky Sport reports, no new developments regarding Icardi’s contract extension is to be expected for the remainder of the January transfer window. Instead, the parties are expected to meet up to resolve the matter early February.
The Argentinian international striker still has two and a half years left on his current deal with the Nerazzurri, a deal which is set to expire at the end of June 2021.
