Inter’s Slovenian goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has the 4th best save success rate in Europe’s top 5 leagues according to football stats website WhoScored.com
The purpose of the study is “an attempt take a more in-depth look into what statistics mark out a top quality goalkeeper, using the average figures of the 79 keepers in Europe’s top five leagues to have played 15 or more league games in 2018/19.”
The term ‘best save success rate’ is defined as “the base criteria for this assessment is save success rate (the percentage of shots on target faced that a keeper saves) to bring about the top nine players in that regard.”
Former AS Roma keeper Alisson Becker leads the pack followed by Nice’s Walter Benitez in second place, Atletico Madrid’s Slovenian international Jan Oblak is fourth and his compatriot Samir Handanovic is fourth.
