Inter-Napoli could not be suspended due to the racist chanting toward Kalidou Koulibaly due to the fact the person tasked with making the decision had left the stadium a report from Corriere dello Sport details.

Koulibaly was subjected to racist abuse from a portion of Inter’s crowd and it is understood that Napoli requested the match to be suspended on several occasions in a bid to get the chants to cease.

At yesterday’s Federcalcio meeting in the Italian capital of Rome, it was revealed that the person who had the power to suspend the match, had referee Paolo Mazzoleni applied the protocol, had left the stadium Meazza halfway through the second half.

As a result of the chanting, Inter were hit with both a stadium closure and fine. The Nerazzurri are to play their next two home fixtures behind closed doors and face a partial closure to their stadium for the game thereafter.
