Andrea Ranocchia spoke after Inter’s resounding 6-2 win over Benevento in the Coppa Italia and firstly addressed playing in front of a near empty stadium.

“It was not easy to play the game in this situation after the winter break. We are not used to playing without an audience so certainly it was a special situation. We were good and we quickly scored three goals but afterwards it went downhill,” he told Inter TV.

“For me playing with these colours is very important. I am glad I made myself ready. It was also important to get through to the next round and now we have achieved the goal we are thinking about the league again.

“We have to face the match against Sassuolo like the other matches. The matches we have played in the past do not count for anything and we have to get the race on our side right away, we have to win and continue to earn points in the standings.

He concluded the interview by discussing the next round where Inter will face Lazio.

“The further you go in the tournament, the stronger the teams in it get. We have the opportunity to find ourselves in the final by winning a few more games maybe even win the trophy. Our goal is to move forward and we must continue like this.”
