Sassuolo general director Giovanni Carnevali has shared his disappointment at the fact his side will have to play Inter behind closed doors next weekend.

“The fans are being penalised and it is not right that they are all being penalised including our fans. Going to watch your team play in a stadium like San Siro it gives you great emotion.

“I believe that in today’s meeting we will talk about various topics, This is one topic that must be shared with those who govern us,” Carnevali explained in an interview with Radio Anch’io Sport.

As a result of a portion of Inter’s support subjecting Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly to racist abuse, the Nerazzurri were ordered to play their next two home games behind closed doors with the game thereafter with the Curva Nord – where the offending chants originated from – closed. Inter played their first game behind closed doors yesterday against Benevento but the lack of a crowd seemingly had no effect as they ran out comfortable 6-2 winners.
