Prior to tonight’s Coppa Italia between Cagliari and Atalanta, Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini was full of praise for Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella.
“He is a boy who is undoubtedly going places. In terms of giving him a value, it is difficult to give him one but he is undoubtedly one of the best emerging players in Italy,” Gasperini said in an interview with broadcaster Rai Sport.
Barella has asserted himself as one of the top midfield starlets not only in Italy but in world football in general and has attracted interest from a wealth of clubs in recent months.
The 21-year-old, who is a full Italian internationalist, has reportedly got interest in his services from both Napoli and Inter from Italy while Chelsea and Manchester United have both also been linked with him lately. As per various reports, it is Napoli that are in the lead to land his signature.
