Mystery continues to surround the date as to when further talks are expected to take place between Inter and the representatives of club captain Mauro Icardi over a new deal according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The meeting will not take place today and the Milan based newspaper speculate that talks could take place this weekend, failing that some point next week.

One thing for sure though is there is a mutual will to meet between the parties in order to find an agreement.

Any new deal could well see the removal of the 25-year-old’s €110 million release clause, a clause only available to be activated by foreign clubs for the first fortnight in July each year.

Icardi currently earns just over €5 million in total inclusive of bonuses but it is understood that he wishes to have an annual base salary of €9 million. Inter are unwilling to meet those demands but are willing to significantly improve his contract by offering him €7 million plus bonuses instead.
