Roberto Boninsegna has shared his thoughts and feelings on the current situation with regard to Mauro Icardi renewing his contract with Inter.
“There is a lot of confusion about the Icardi situation. Mauro is an important player and Inter must do everything possible to keep him at the club,” the former Nerazzurri striker said in an interview with Radio Sportiva.
Boninsegna, then spoke on Inter’s newly appointed chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and is hopeful that with Marotta involved some of the recent ‘mistakes’ will not be repeated in the future.
“He is important for Inter. Maybe mistakes in the past like the Radja Nainggolan and Nicolo Zaniolo swap deal will not be made again. If it were me, I would not have sold Zaniolo outright.”
As things stand, Roma appear to have got the better end of the deal with Zaniolo far exceeding expectations while Nainggolan has yet to deliver as expected.
