There is a happy ending in sight for a young Scottish Inter fan whose first trip to Milan looked set to be ruined due to Inter having to play behind closed doors Gazzetta dello Sport have detailed.

Ross Donaghey surprised his 12-year-old son Max with a trip to Milan to see his beloved Inter take on Sassuolo but had to break the news to the youngster that he wouldn’t be able to attend the game.

Due to a portion of Inter’s support subjecting Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly to racist abuse, Inter were ordered to play their next two home games in an empty stadium with the game thereafter with a partial closure to the ground.

On appeal, Inter were able to reach an agreement that would allow children from the academy and from local schools to attend the game, similarly to what Juventus did when faced with a similar incident.

Ross sent out an appeal to try and get his son in to the game and Gazzetta have reported that Marco Bussetti, the head of the Ministry of Education, has found a solution to allow this to happen in the shape of aggregating Max to a local school.

“I can not believe it. Thank you, Gazzetta , thank you, Italy. It has been an incredible two days. I received so many messages from people ready to welcome us to Milan and now I know it will be fabulous,” Ross said upon hearing the news.
