Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata has confirmed he used to have a soft spot for Inter as a child.

Zapata told reporters in December he had supported the Nerazzurri in the past and was again asked about it in an interview with Corriere della Sera on Thursday.

“I supported a team from every league,” the Colombian said.

“What I liked about Inter was their colours. I really loved Arsenal when Thierry Henry was there, though.

“In Colombia we go crazy for the Premier League: perhaps I’ll play there one day.”

Zapata joined Atalanta in a deal worth up to €26 million last summer and has scored 13 goals in 26 appearances for the Bergamaschi so far.

The 27 year-old scored just once in his first 13 Serie A appearances this season but has found the net nine times in the last six matches, including a hat-trick against former side Udinese on 9 December.

The Colombian played 71 minutes of Atalanta’s 4-1 win over Inter in November but did not get on the score-sheet.
