Inter owned Brazilian attacker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa spoke to Globoesporte.com about how he came to the decision to join Flamengo on loan.

The former Santos player began by stating that: “I sat down with my family, I talked and we saw where I could be happy. I think in Flamengo there are all the conditions for that to happen, I was very well received by the fans, the board of directors and even the press.”

“It was a unanimous decision, my heart spoke louder. When you make a choice with your heart, things end up happening. Flamengo has a great history.”

Gabigol also reveals that decisive in his choice was the intervention of a Brazilian club legend: “I received Zico’s invitation to play at the Maracana, he came to me and told me that they were waiting for me. I also talked to Adriano.”

“They are players who deserve to be labeled as idols, they made history, I respect them a lot. I think everyone wants me to play here at Flamengo, the crowd is fantastic, they support you, they sings wonderful songs. The club is sensational, it’s a team that wants to win, and the winning players want to stay here.”
