According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Luciano Spalletti only has one doubt over his starting XI as Inter return to Serie A action against Sassuolo at the San Siro: Nainggolan is the slight favourite ahead of Joao Mario to start against the Neroverdi.

For the rest, the XI to face Sassuolo is already decided. Samir Handanovic, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan De Vrij, Kwadwoh Asamoah, Matias Vecino and Matteo Politano will all retain their places in the side after the Coppa Italia victory against Benevento.

Sassuolo are notoriously a difficult opponent for Inter, having won Seven Serie A matches against the Nerazzurri, more than against any other side in the top flight.

However, Inter have won four Serie A matches against Sassuolo, two of them by a 7-0 scoreline: those are two of Sassuolo’s three heaviest ever defeats in Italy’s top flight.

The probable lineup:

Inter (4-2-3-1): Samir Handanovic; Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan De Vrij, Milan Skriniar, Kwadwoh Asamoah; Matias Vecino, Marcelo Brozovic; Matteo Politano, Radja Nainggolan, Ivan Perisic; Mauro Icardi.
