Sime Vrsaljko says he fulfilled a lifelong ambition by signing for Inter in the summer.

Inter return to Serie A action this evening when they will face Sassuolo at San Siro and the club interviewed Vrsaljko as part of the match-day programme.

The Croatian, who spent two seasons with the Neroverdi between 2014 and 2016, also recalled the first time he played Inter after arriving in Italy and touched on the different positions he’s played in throughout his career.

“I’ve dreamed about playing for Inter since I was a child,” Vrsaljko said.

“Now I have the responsibility of putting their shirt on every weekend.

“The first time I played Inter was also my first season in Italy at Genoa.

“I walked out at San Siro and I found myself in an historic stadium playing against a top club.

“I was happy and motivated, I wanted to make as good a first impression as possible.

“I’ve played pretty much everywhere in my career: at the back, in the middle, central defence. But then I was moved to right-back and I’ve not moved since, I feel very comfortable playing there.”
