Agreement Over New Contract Edging Closer Between Inter & Icardi

Gazzetta dello Sport have brought an update on the current state of negotiations between Inter and Mauro Icardi over a new and improved contract and hint that an agreement is on the verge of being reached.

“The first few weeks of January have not been quiet, from the fine to the statements via social media, to the tension to the newfound harmony with the club. The signature is missing, one that will end talks and will cast Icardi’s future at the Nerazzurri in stone,” part of the report reads.

The report goes on to state that the gap between supply and demand has been reduced. There was a €2 million gap between Inter’s offer (€7 million) and his wife/agent Wanda Icardi’s demands (€9 million). Inter have increased their offer and added bonuses and the new deal will also see the removal of his €110 million release clause, a clause that only clubs outside of Italy can activate.

Icardi, who is already under contract with Inter through to 2021, has made 24 appearances across all competitions this term scoring 14 goals and contributing three assists in the process.
