Inter defender Stefan de Vrij stopped by Sky Sport Italia after the goalless draw against Sassuolo in the Serie A to share his thoughts on the match.

“They were very good but we are disappointed over the draw because we are Inter and we always want to win. So we are sorry but this result was also thanks to their ability, they defended well and they played the ball well at their feet.”

“They are a good team and they demonstrated that. We could have done better, we were looking for the goal and we had chances but unfortunately we were not able to make it count. They were able to counterattack well and fast, also with their defenders.”

“When they recovered the ball they did really well in getting the ball out from their box. It was not easy for us, but we are content with not having conceded. They made us suffer but Handanoviv did well and saved us on 2-3 occasions.”

The former Lazio man was asked if he thought Inter had improved in comparison to the first meeting between these two sides to which he replied: “Yes, I think we have improved and you can see this. The match away against them was the first match of the season for us. There is a long way to go still.”

In conclusion he was asked about the rumored arrival of Diego Godin from Atletico Madrid to which he replied: “It is a good signal for the team from the club  when the best arrive. I don’t know if it is official yet but if he were to arrive he would give us a big hand.”
