Diego Simeone looks set to sign a contract extension with Atletico Madrid with an agreement already in place between the concerned parties according to a report from Spanish newspaper AS.

The Argentine has been in charge of the Spanish capital club since 2011 and his current contract is due to expire at the end of the 2019/20 season.

The contract extension, as per the report, will prolong his stay with the club at least until the end of the season after that, the 2020/21 season.

Simeone has made no secret of his desire to one day manage Inter where he spent two years as a player between 1997 and 1999. This pending renewal would however suggest that for the time being Simeone is fully focused on the task at hand with Atletico, who he won La Liga with back in the 2013/14 season. The 48-year-old’s most recent trophy with the Colchoneros is the Europa League which they won last season.
