Nicolo Barella has knocked back the continued advances of Napoli due to having the desire to remain with Cagliari for the rest of the season according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

Napoli have been one of the most active clubs in the race to land the young Italian international and face competition from the likes of Inter and Chelsea for his signature.

The Rossoblu have slapped a bumper €50 million pricetag on the 21-year-old’s head, a fee Napoli deem to be too excessive. It also remains to be seen if Chelsea will be willing to invest so much in Barella. Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has met with Barella’s agent in recent months also and the Milan based newspaper say that the €50 million pricetag has frightened him.

Barella has been a mainstay in the Sardinia based club’s side this season and has made 22 appearances across all competitions in which he has scored one goal and tallied one assist.
