Gazzetta dello Sport have tackled the issue of stadium ownership in Italy and compared ownership rates compared to other countries across Europe from leagues on a similar level to Serie A and some well off the level.

Only three clubs currently in Serie A own their stadiums, a particularly poor percentage given 15 of 20 Premier League clubs own their grounds, nine of 18 in Bundesliga, 16 out of 20 in La Liga, nine out of 12 in Scotland and seven of 12 in Norther Ireland.

Two more clubs could soon own their stadium in Serie A in the shape of Inter and Milan. The club’s signed an agreement in recent months to work on the stadium issue. Firstly it seemed like the clubs were keen to simply renovate and modernise San Siro but the clubs could opt to build a new stadium altogether with one another or even opt to go their separate ways. The Milan city council are awaiting word from the clubs before proceeding with talks.
