Inter legend Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi is not convinced that Inter linked Rodrigo de Paul is capable of replacing want-away Ivan Perisic.
“I do not think that de Paul can replace Perisic. de Paul is more of a playmaker, even if he also plays on the wing. He does not do the defensive work like the Croat or Politano on the opposite side does,” he said in an interview with Sky Sport.
Inter have reportedly already reached an agreement with Udinese over the transfer of the versatile de Paul while Perisic, as confirmed by Inter CEO Beppe Marotta, has submitted a transfer request amidst interest from Premier League side Arsenal.
Bergomi also reflected on Inter’s 1-0 loss away to Torino last night.
“Inter does not transmit emotion at the moment. They are a flat team. Candreva came back in after hearing about him for weeks on the transfer market, it is not the right spirit.”
