Sconcerti: “Torino Overwhelmed Inter”

In his weekly column for Corriere della Sera, respected journalist Mario Sconcerti analysed Inter’s performance in their poor 1-0 loss to Torino.

“Inter were overwhelmed by the ordered nature of Torino and by the system change. Playing Lautaro Martinez and Mauro Icardi together changed the axis of the team and did not solve anything with them always having to drop back. Lautaro is not a number 10 but rather a true striker with different movements to those of Icardi.

“The sense of Inter being a team was again lacking. From an athletic point of view, particularly in terms of running and the general pleasure of playing football, Torino has overwhelmed Inter.”

He continued, “There was at times a signal of distrust as the team refused this new system that was only used to match that of Torino. There remains too many individual limits for Inter.

“Icardi has scored just two goals in his last night games while Danilo D’Ambrosio and Dalbert do not have the quality to control the wings on their own. There is blind confusion between the team and the bench and it was as if they did not listen to one another.”
