The Milan city council have wrote to both Milanese clubs Inter and Milan requesting a definitive answer on the stadium issue according to a report from Corriere della Sera.

The two clubs signed a ‘memorandum of understanding’ with one another in November last year showcasing their desire to work together to solve the stadium issue whether that be to renovate and modernise San Siro or knock it down and build a new modern ground. The city council were expecting a response from the sides on the issue before the end of 2018 but did not receive one.

The report goes on to discuss what the city council see as the ideal solution. They would like to see the Milanese clubs sign a 99-year lease for San Siro which would be restructured to meet the needs of both clubs.

Milan have been tenants at San Siro since it opened back in 1926 while Inter became shared tenants 21 years later in 1947.
