Inter are to pay tribute to a disabled fan who passed away today at tomorrow’s Coppa Italia quarter-final match against Lazio, a report from news agency ANSA details.

22-year-old Francesco Gallone, who had spastic quadriplegia – a subset to the wider known cerebral palsy – will be remembered with a plaque near the disabled section at San Siro, an area where he played a part in a platform being  added to help make disabled fans’ view better.

Milan Sports Councilor Roberta Guaineri has also paid tribute to Gallone ahead of tomorrow night’s match.

“He was a great fan of Inter, a great sportsman, who was captain of his wheelchair hockey team and a great man too. He fought with a smile on his face until the end to make sport really accessible for everyone. Despite being wheelchair bound, he never surrendered to the limits it imposed on him . He pursued his university studies brilliants and committed himself to a battle of civilisation.”
