Luciano Spalletti’s relationship with new Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta is already beyond repair after less than two months working together, Tuttosport claimed today.

Spalletti spent over half an hour speaking to Marotta and the rest of Inter’s management on Thursday night following the Coppa Italia defeat on penalties to Lazio, which extended the Nerazzurri’s winless run to three matches.

However the pair remain divided over the club’s handling of the situation regarding Ivan Perisic, after the Croatian attempted to force through a move to Arsenal during the last week of the January transfer window.

Marotta confirmed to reporters before Inter’s match against Torino that Perisic had asked to leave, a move Spalletti appeared to publicly criticise after the Lazio match in midweek.

The Inter boss is also said to be secretly convinced that those above him are not doing enough to protect his players in public.

“Everything is broken and it won’t be easy to put the fragments back together,” Tuttosport wrote in typically melodramatic tones on Saturday.
