Andrea Ranocchia spoke with Inter TV after Inter fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to lowly Bologna where he doubted Inter’s psychology.
“The situation that is happening is similar to that of last year. We have more quality in the team this year compared to last though and I am calm in the sense that we are in good hands and in a good position right now. We will have to work purely on the psychological aspect of the game. I think this is the flaw that has seen us not make the jump in quality required to stay close to Napoli.
“Our recent run is not a matter of numbers but a psychological matter. Strong players like the ones we have in this team do not forget how to play football. We are strong technically and physically but we have to work on our mentality and we absolutely need a victory in the next game. We have to be solid in every moment of the match as we are struggling right now. There is work to do to get there and we must understand that there is no more time for these hitches.”
The Italian was then asked about the applause he received when he entered the field as a substitute.
“I felt it and I am glad as it is pleasure. I try to give everything I have. The fans see this and today I played the whole game with apnea.”
He concluded by talking about the shot he got off.
“I was not able to get as much power on it as I’d have liked but forced the keeper to make a good save.”
