Inter CEO Beppe Marotta spoke exclusively to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset about the rumors concerning the future of Nerazzurri coach Luciano Spalletti.

“Spalletti is confirmed to stay, as for the rest you cannot speak of his job being at risk. In my 22 years working as a director in the Serie A, in three clubs like Atalanta, Sampdoria and Juventus, I have never sacked a coach.

“In order to sack a coach you need specific conditions to be met, those conditions have not been met here. Spalletti will stay with us. There are objectives that need to be met, then we will make our decisions” Marotta continued when asked if Spalletti will stay if the team qualifies for next season’s Champions League.

“The culture of winning needs to be improved in this group, we will come out of this crisis by looking to elevate this concept. We are all under scrutiny, and every week we have to deliver results.”

In conclusion Marotta was asked about Mauro Icardi’s contract negotiations to which he replied: “There is no motive to think that he could rethink his position, among other things being represented by his wife. This isn’t the cause, that it is because he does not want to.”
