Inter’s medical staff are keeping an eye on Borja Valero with utmost caution after the Spaniard recently picked up an injury.

Prior to Inter’s Coppa Italia quarter final against Lazio, the veteran sustained an injury to his knee and while nothing too serious, Inter are keen to not aggravate it and make it any more serious and therefore he is unlikely to even be risked this weekend when Inter travel to take on Parma.

Another reason for not wanting to risk him is due to Inter’s pending participation in the Europa League. Already missing Marcelo Brozovic through suspension while Joao Mario and Roberto Gagliardini are not in the squad, Luciano Spalletti’s options are already limited and he could do without being without yet another player if Valero’s condition worsens.

The 34-year-old – who still has just under 18 months to run on his contract with the club – has made 22 appearances across all competitions this season. In just short of 1000 minutes on the park, Valero has contributed a single assist.
