Milan mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has given his thoughts on the latest reports which suggest Inter and Milan are to request more land in and around the area where the San Siro currently is.

“Let’s sit down and see if the requests they make are in the realms of common sense. Personally, I think it is easier to stay in the current San Siro and I hope it is an option that stays alive and I think it will but if the clubs want to build a new stadium – and there are a series of ‘ifs’ about this – we must find a formula that would mean the city is not penalised in any way,” he explained.

“If an adequate formula can be found, I will not say no to it. Let’s see what the two clubs are looking for. Whether it is a new stadium or a renovated San Siro, it can be attractive for tourism.”
