Sime Vrsaljko will undergo surgery next week in Belgium in an attempt to correct the knee injury that has caused him a lot of problems since his arrival at Inter according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The full back – who is on loan from Atletico Madrid – is currently resting in his native Croatia and after surgery he will return to Madrid to begin the recovery process.

The Milan based newspaper’s report goes on to state that it is ‘almost impossible’ that Inter will take up their option to turn his stay at the club in to a permanent one for a sum of €17.5 million.

The January signing of Cedric Soares from Southampton all but confirmed that Vrsaljko’s season was over and now, as per this report, his Inter career is too.

27-year-old Vrsaljko managed just 13 appearances since arriving in which he tallied two assists in just over 900 minutes on the park.
