Inter new boy Cedric has spoken on when he first heard of Inter’s interest among a host of other topics in an interview with Sport Mediaset.

“I was in London, it was my day off. I saw I had a call from my agent and when understood there was a chance to get to Inter I immediately called Joao Mario. We have been great friends for a long time and he was very happy,” he said.

The Portuguese then spoke on his evolution from attacker to defender and how he would define himself as a player.

“When I joined the first team at Sporting Lisbon, I was an attacking midfielder but I could also play as a full-back. Everyone said I was good at attacking but I had to improve defensively. Over the past 3-4 years I have worked a lot on my defensive part of my game and I have improved a lot. Now I feel comfortable defending. My job is to defend but when I can,I prefer to attack.Any player likes to attack, if you do not like to attack then I do not see why you play football.

I am a team player. I always try to talk with my teammates. I am always looking for space to cross the ball or play one-two’s. I like to push up but if Luciano Spalletti asks me to stay back or play in a three man defence then I will do it without any problem. We as players must always be able to adapt to what the coach wants.”

He concluded the interview by reflecting on his brief time with the club so far that has been far from easy with Inter going through a rocky patch.

“For me it’s all new but my adaptation has been quick. The food is fantastic, there are plenty of places for shopping. What has been my favourite pizza? I ate a very good last week with Patanegra ham, tomato and mozzarella. It was fantastic.

“We are prepare the matches normally with a great desire to win and I’m 100% sure that this group will come out of this difficult moment. I’ve been here for 7-10 days but I find myself very well with Spalletti. He has already given me great confidence and me stepping up to take a penalty against Lazio is proof of that.”
