La Russa Convinced That Mino Raiola Would Do Worse Than What Inter Captain Icardi’s Agent Wanda Has Done

Former Italian minister  Ignazio La Russa has come to the defence of Mauro Icardi’s wife/agent who has come under criticism for how she has handled contract negotiations with the clubs.

“If instead of Wanda as Icardi’s agent, Icardi has Mino Raiola as his agent perhaps Raiola would have done worse [than what Wanda has]. People are a bit harsh against Wanda because she is a woman and is his wife but she works in the best interests of her client. Remember, there are agents out there who are fathers or brothers to players,” he said in an interview with RMC Sport.

La Russa then went on to discuss Icardi’s recent dry spell in front of goal.

The current situation has perhaps bewildered him. I have hardly seen him miss chances like the one in the first few minutes against Bologna in his many years at Inter. The team is very condition to Icardi scoring goals. Him turning up and scoring goals decides Inter’s fate on the day.”

He also came to the defence of Inter boss Luciano Spalletti before talking about the arrival of Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta as chief executive.

“While he is not the greatest coach in the world, he is a great coach for Inter. Changing manager now would cause uncertainty at Inter.

“Perhaps it would have been better for him to have arrived at the end of the season. The positive effects he brings/can bring are counterbalanced with a situation of imbalance that can happen.”
