According to Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, it looks as though it will be a four way battle for the two last Champions League places.

Inter, Milan, Roma, and Lazio will be fighting it out until the end of the season. The Rome based newspaper emphasizes the absence of Milan and Roma from the top of Italian football for the past few years.

The first step to come back to greatness is to qualify for the greatest European competition around, but that is not all, according to the report: “The money that will come with qualifying for the Champions League could give new life to the projects of the new stadiums that Roma and Milan want to build. These are the ideas of the foreign owners while Lazio is the only Italian-owned team left.”

“The clubs need these stadiums because it raises their values and brings them that much closer to Juventus. But before even talking about stadiums, Inter, Milan, Roma, and Lazio need to grow and aim higher. The Milanese clubs seem to be taking the right steps and in a more advanced position compared to the Romans.”

“Just look at Milan’s recent transfers: if Higuain is not good enough, he was allowed to leave and Piatek was brought in for €40 million. Roma and Lazio cannot afford such operations, which is why good planning affects the growth process.”
