Contract renewal talks between Inter and Mauro Icardi over a new contract are likely to take place after Inter’s Europa League double-header with Rapid Vienna according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri will offer €7 million plus bonuses but it does of course remain to be seen if the Argentine striker will sign on the dotted line.

Icardi is under contract with the club through to 2021 so if an agreement cannot be reached now, it is not as if time is really against them as there is plenty of time to find an agreement between then and now.

The Milan based newspaper have also discussed Luciano Spalletti’s recent statements. Spalletti’s statements have put pressure on the situation but the manager has explained in private to Inter management that he was only trying his best to help out Icardi, who is going through a goal drought in Serie A.
