In his weekly column for Corriere della Sera, respected journalist Mario Sconcerti has commented on the contract renewal situation of Inter captain Mauro Icardi.

“Inter have returned with a very beautiful and intense performance. Spalletti must not be abused, what can he do? Now it is up to Marotta to give the players profound signals. The confusion cam still be felt from afar, the choices made seem to still be the ones made back during the Moratti years, you are all my children and our history is always ours.

“In short, it is unacceptable to pay Icardi so much. It is not acceptable for this to create anarchy. The idea of a relationship between the player and club in football no longer exits, they all think only of money. If you misbehave or act wrongly on these things, the squad gives up. The big clubs don’t become big by acting whimsically, the are born through secure behaviour, from leading by example. I do not see this from this Inter as it still seems like the Inter of Wanda Nara.”
