Wanda Icardi, the outspoken wife/agent of Inter captain Mauro Icardi, has insisted that she and her client ‘are in no hurry’ when it comes to signing a contract renewal but firstly spoke on the recent statements of Luciano Spalletti and then phone call she had with Inter’s management.
“Spalletti wasn’t talking about me. I did not mention the renewal when the club called me. The call was to get to know each other better and talk about other things,” she said in an interview with Tiki Taka.
“I would like to see Mauro more protected by the club because sometimes nasty things have come out from inside.
“The priority is Inter: I have never demanded a renewal. We are in no hurry as he still has over two years left on his contract.”
She then spoke on Icardi’s recent goal drought in Serie A and suggested that Spalletti plays him and Lautaro Martinez together.
“There’s nothing to say about his goal drought. Mauro has always scored goals and Lautaro scored thanks to some great movement by Mauro, who’s been given little service, against Parma.
“Maybe Spalletti could play them together, taking advantage of the fact that he and Mauro are friends. There is no rivalry between them.”
