Former Inter captain and club legend, Javier Zanetti, gave an interview to Goal.com where he spoke about various things Inter related and the football world in general right now.

The now Vice President of Inter spoke about the array of young talent coming out of his home country back in Argentina and couldn’t go without mentioning Inter’s very own Lautaro Martinez.

“We are lucky to have him, for me he has been a real surprise. I did not know him as a person before he came here but I had seen him play and I admired him. I am so happy to have him at Inter and it seems the fans like him too. It is not easy to adapt the Italian game but I have to say he is doing very well so far. I am convinced he has a great future.”

Zanetti then went on to speak about the player who has gone on to become his replacement as captain at Inter, Mauro Icardi. “The most impressive thing is to see all that he is achieving in the game especially at such a young age. He is now a recognised out and out goalscorer at an international level, we are fortunate that he belongs to us. I am in no doubt that alongside Lautaro Martinez, he represents out future. Mauro can also achieve great things with the Argentinian national side.”

Inter’s Vice President spoke about the team and its’ current objectives and added “our aim is to qualify once again for the UEFA Champions League. We achieved it last season and this should act as a marker going forward. Today the team has a real identity, they occupy the top places in Italian football and are a team that always wants to make that next step up. The club is aiming to grow as a team on the pitch of course but also as a club: we are following many projects at the moment which will help us reach these targets.”
