Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and Inter manager Luciano Spalletti have sat down together in a bid to clarify the recent events according to a report from broadcaster Sky Sport.

Spalletti recently publicly suggested that ongoing contract negotiations between the club and club captain Mauro Icardi were proving detrimental to the Argentine striker and his form. Moreover, Spalletti was also critical of Marotta’s decision to go public about Ivan Perisic’s transfer request during the January transfer window.

The meeting was supposed to take place yesterday but due to Marotta being ill, the meeting was cancelled. It was rescheduled and took place at lunch time today as per Sky Sport.

The summit allowed all involved parties to clear the air in a relaxed atmosphere and return the focus on the shared interest they have which is doing the best for the team who are going through a delicate moment on the pitch at this time.
