“Literally destroyed,” this is the definition that Gazzetta dello Sport gives of Mauro Icardi after he learned the news that, as of yesterday, he is no longer the captain of Inter.

Shortly after lunch it is reported Icardi went away slamming the door, after the resounding decision made by the Inter management to remove him as captain. It was a decision that was felt just as strongly by Icardi who felt betrayed and could not have ever imagined such a scenario. Icardi was called by the Inter Management to take his place on the bus destined for Vienna, ready to compete in Europe once again, but instead he found himself all alone in the dressing room that – theoretically – as captain and leader he would have to motivate. He felt humiliated, and he preferred not to follow the team that he felt had betrayed him.

The Nerazzurri’s number nine then left Appiano alone, at the wheel of his car, very angry and disappointed according to the Milan newspaper
