Newly appointed Inter captain, Slovenian goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, was interviewed by Inter TV after the 1-0 win away in the first leg of the Europa League clash against Rapid Vienna, thanks to a goal from Lautaro Martinez.

“I am above all happy for the result, that is what counts. Then if we don’t concede any goals it is yet another thing that makes everyone in the team happy.”

The former Udinese stopper was asked about the brilliant save on former Inter player Knasmüllner which was destined to go in but was unfazed.

“I am there for this reason, then it is clear that I always hope I don’t have to make many saves, but if I have to make saves I will make them. Another win thanks to the solitary goal means that our defence starts with our attack, the work everyone does is very important. Not conceding is very important.”

In conclusion he was asked about how he felt being appointed as the club’s new captain to which he admitted he was proud.

“Every player would be proud to be the captain of an important club but you have to speak about Inter and not individuals.”
